Georgia DOT Awards $98.1 Million In Contracts For June

Georgia DOT awarded a total of 24 projects valued at approximately $98.1 million at the monthly State Transportation Board meeting held in June.

The largest single investment resurfacing project, valued at more than $24 million, will mill, inlay and plant mix nearly 12 miles of I-95/State Route (SR) 405, beginning north of CSX Railroad #6350425 and extending north of the Quacco Road overpass bridge in Bryan and Chatham counties. The second largest project, estimated at $6.8 million, includes 8.510 miles of milling, inlay and plant mix resurfacing on SR 11 north of Barnes Road and extending north of Woodlawn Drive in Bibb County. These two contracts and six other resurfacing projects represent 54 percent of the total funds awarded.

The largest construction contract, valued at approximately $16 million, proposes to construct two roundabouts on SR 7 BUS (Ashley Street) at SR 7 ALT (Patterson Street/Smithbriar Drive/Brookfield Road) and on SR 7 BUS (North Valdosta Road) at the North Oak Street Extension intersection in Lowndes County. The second largest project, valued at more than $3.1 million, will construct an elliptical roundabout on SR 92 (Campbellton-Fairburn Road) at Butner Road/Ridge Road (County Road 1374) in Fulton County. There are three additional categorized construction projects each valued at approximately $2.9 million or less to construct bridges and approaches in Fulton, Elbert and Laurens counties. These contracts represent 27 percent of the total funds awarded.

The remaining 19 percent of projects awarded in June include 11 safety projects totaling approximately $19 million. Safety improvements included in the awards consist of LED lighting, signage and pavement marking upgrades, rumble strip installation and ramp improvements at various locations throughout the state. The single largest investment, valued at more than $5.1 million, will upgrade the LED lighting system at I-75/I-85/SR 401/SR 403 at Baker Street and Piedmont Avenue and at McGill Boulevard and Courtland Street both in Fulton County. The second largest project, valued at approximately $4.5 million, will upgrade the LED lighting system at I-75/I-85/SR 401/SR 403 at Memorial Drive and Capitol Avenue and the ramp tunnel in Fulton County.

The Award Announcement list (includes awarded, rejected and or deferred projects) and Supplemental Award Announcement (includes previously deferred projects that have now been let) are available. Bids for Design-Bid-Build projects were received on June 13, and contracts were awarded to the lowest qualified bidders on June 30, 2025.

The June awards bring the total construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2025, which ended on June 30 to nearly $2.2 billion. In Fiscal Year 2025, Georgia DOT awarded 263 statewide infrastructure investment projects totaling an awarded value of nearly $2.2 billion. Of that total number, 245 were Georgia DOT-let projects with an approximate value of $1.8 billion, and 18 were locally let projects with an approximate value of $337 million. During the Fiscal Year, 35 percent of projects awarded were investments for bridges, 33 percent were for roads, 23 percent were for maintenance, 7 percent were for safety and 2 percent were for enhancement projects. This total includes TIA, Design-Bid-Build, and locally administered projects. Fiscal Year 2026 began on July 1, 2025, and will conclude June 30, 2026.

Contractors and consultants, including Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs), registered small businesses and veteran-owned small businesses interested in bidding on projects or performing work must prequalify with Georgia DOT.
