Thursday, April 20th, 2023
Fayette County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jonathan Patterson was named the winner of the 2023 President’s Award at the Georgia School Superintendents Association’s Spring Bootstrap Conference.
The President’s Award is given to a superintendent who is doing a great job of serving their community with an innovative program or approach that is producing positive results for their school system.
Dr. Stephanie Gordy, Executive Director of Griffin RESA, spoke glowingly of Dr. Patterson in nominating him for the honor.
“Many of his colleagues describe Dr. Patterson as a forward-thinking leader due to his uncanny ability to analyze, anticipate, question, and adapt accordingly. He is strong and confident in his decisions, but he is also a listener who is fully present in the moment, learning as much as possible from others,” said Dr. Gordy. “He seeks to see all sides of an issue and to understand all perspectives. He is grounded in his values and in his purpose as the leader of Fayette County Public Schools.”
