Last week our Board of Education approved a partnership between the Coweta County School System (CCSS) and the University of West Georgia (UWG) in the Georgia’s BEST program.  This program allows our school system, starting this fall in collaboration with UWG to provide locally designed and implemented advanced degree programs for 150 CCSS employees in critical need fields.

Take a look at the video message or go to UWG’s “Georgia BEST” Coweta website here for more information. Our school board’s significant commitment of $450,000 per year over the next several years will provide advanced degree programs to employees at no cost for 150 applicants.

This partnership with UWG through Georgia’s BEST will also allow our school system to collaborate in the development of courses and programs, ensuring materials and instruction are specific and relevant to our district, school, and community.  CCSS is only the second school system in Georgia to announce participation in Georgia’s BEST, following an announcement by Cobb County School in February. Kudos to the Coweta School System and UWG leadership! Just another example of what a great community we live in.
