Georgia gas price average ticks upward but is still one of  the cheapest in the United States. Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $3.17 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight). Monday's state average is 5 cents more than a week ago, 9 cents less than a month ago, and 8 cents less than this time last year. It now costs $47.55 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Drivers are now paying almost $1.50 less to fill-up at the pump compared to last month.

“Yes, gas prices have increased in Georgia, mainly due to demand ticking up across the state and fluctuating oil prices,” said Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman. “How high pump prices will increase remains uncertain. AAA offers drivers money saving tips listed below.”

National Average Trends Downward

Since last Monday, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has decreased by 3 cents to $3.77 (subject to change overnight). According to data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand increased from 8.66 million barrels a day to 9.01 million barrels a day last week. Total domestic gasoline stocks decreased by nearly 1 million barrels million to 205.7 million barrels. Tighter supply and robust gasoline demand would typically push pump prices higher; however, fluctuating oil prices have limited price increases in some states.

Regional Prices:

Most expensive Georgia metro markets – Savannah ($3.22), Macon ($3.20) and Atlanta ($3.18).

Least expensive Georgia metro markets – Albany ($3.11), Warner Robins ($3.08) and Catoosa-Dade-Walker ($3.06).
