The Georgia Center for Nursing Excellence Interactive Nursing Workforce Dashboard
Tuesday, September 6th, 2022
The Georgia Center for Nursing Excellence (GCNE) just released an interactive dashboard both providing and visualizing a wealth of supply and demand data on the state’s nursing workforce. the dashboard will be located on the GCNE website at www.gcnex.org. The supply and demand data covers all nurses (RNs and LPNs) employed in the state of Georgia. The data can be viewed by county-defined regions, as well as for the state of Georgia as a whole.
The Georgia Healthcare Workforce Board houses the nursing dashboard that includes data from the nursing re-licensure process. Together these dashboards offer stakeholders better nursing workforce data that can be used for strategic nursing workforce planning.
Better access to and analysis of nursing workforce data, in addition to nursing re-licensure data, is needed to understand the supply and demand needs and distribution of nurses in Georgia. The data will be the basis for fundamental planning efforts to meet the current and future nursing workforce needs. Major gaps have existed in Georgia’s nursing workforce data, and these have inhibited strategic planning initiatives to address the state’s labor force needs. Having these data available is a critical step in the development of accurate models for projecting nursing workforce capacity.
The GCNE interactive nursing workforce dashboard was created through a partnership developed with Neighborhood Nexus. The information on the dashboard includes nursing workforce supply and demand data that has not been previously available. This information allows stakeholders to view supply data on the nursing workforce employed in their region, as well as data on the nursing workforce demand data in their region. Some forecast modeling data for future nursing workforce needs are also provided.
The launch of the GCNE nursing workforce dashboard is a first step in providing stakeholders with more nursing workforce data to better inform workforce strategies. We appreciate your feedback and are looking for suggestions and ideas to further expand the dashboard and to make more information available to you. We want to partner with you, support your efforts, and together make Georgia the best place for retaining and recruiting nurses.
