Mentoring in schools is an opportunity to invest in the future. Simply taking the time to meet with a student weekly can change the course of their lives. You can be the person to make a lasting impact by joining the Friends Mentoring program through Fayette County Public Schools.

School-based mentoring happens at all grade levels and is a resource for all students. Mentoring impacts the social and academic life of a student, academic achievement, and has a proven record to improve school attendance and behavior. 

The mission of the Friends Mentoring program is to establish and support one-on-one, long-term relationships between positive community role models and students to assist youth in dealing with the complexities of school, home life, and their community. School-based mentors meet weekly one-on-one with their students in a school-based setting. More than anything, mentoring is about building positive relationships and being someone who a student can talk to. 

If you are not able to commit to weekly meetings but are still interested in mentoring, please apply! We can talk about creative ways to give you an opportunity to serve within the means of your schedule. 

Once you submit the initial application, you will be contacted to schedule a time to speak further about your interests and next steps toward becoming a mentor. All mentors go through a screening process and training before being matched with a student.
