Lt. Governor Duncan Announces Appointments to Three Study Committees

Today, Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan announced the members of three Senate Study Committees: the Senate Study Committee on Economic Development and International Relations, Senate Development Authorities and Downtown Development Authorities Study Committee and the Senate Study Committee on People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Waiver Plan Access.

The Senate Study Committee on Economic Development and International Relations (SR 822) will be chaired by Sen. Butch Miller (R - Gainesville). Per SR 822, the President of the Senate serves as a member ex-officio. The Senate members appointed to serve on this committee are:

Sen. Matt Brass (R - Newnan)
Sen. Steve Gooch (R - Dahlonega)
Sen. Emanuel Jones (R - Decatur)
Sen. Jeff Mullis (R - Chickamauga)
Ex-Officio, Sen. Sonya Halpern (D - Atlanta)
Ex-Officio, Sen. Sheikh Rahman (D - Lawrenceville)

Ms. Angie Gheesling, Houston Development Authority

 The Senate Development Authorities and Downtown Development Authorities Study Committee (SR 809) will be chaired by Sen. Max Burns (R - Sylvania). The Senate members appointed to serve on this committee are:

Sen. Clint Dixon (R - Buford)
Sen. Steve Gooch (R - Dahlonega)
Sen. Elena Parent (D - Atlanta)
Sen. Michael 'Doc' Rhett (D - Marrietta)

The Senate Study Committee on People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Waiver Plan Access (SR 770) will be co-chaired by Sen. John Albers (R - Roswell) and Sen. Sally Harrell (D – Atlanta). The Senate members appointed to serve on this committee are:


Sen. Dean Burke (R - Bainbridge)
Sen. Marty Harbin (R - Tyrone)
Sen. Donzella James  (D - Atlanta)

These study committees were established pursuant to SR 822, SR 809, and SR 770, adopted by the Senate during the 2022 legislative session.
