Colony Bank announced that Derek Shelnutt has been promoted to the newly created position of Senior Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer. 

In this new role, Derek will oversee the accounting function and all financial and regulatory reporting, while providing additional support with strategic decisions for the Company.  Derek joined Colony in 2020 as Assistant Vice President, Treasury Manager, and has since served as Vice President, Controller, and most recently as Senior Vice President, Treasurer. 

Derek earned both his Master of Professional Accounting and Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of West Georgia and is a current student in the Georgia Bankers Association's Banking School at the University of Georgia. He is a Certified Public Accountant in both Georgia and South Carolina and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. Derek has one son with his wife Andrea and enjoys spending time visiting national parks, camping, and fishing.
