HOSA State Highlights Future Health Professionals

A bright future lies ahead for the members of Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA). All five Fayette high schools were represented among the over 4,200 members, advisors, and guests who came to the HOSA State Leadership Conference in Atlanta from March 10-12. 

Whitewater had four individual winners. Audrey New won in Clinical Speciality, Samantha Roquemore won in Health Career Photography, Lillian Elegemadu-Duru won in Interviewing Skills, and Andon Failma in HOSA Newsletter. 

Other Wildcats placing were Halley Chambers (6th, Clinical Speciality), Taylor Glover (6th, Healthy Lifestyle), and Marie Yanez-Jimenez (8th, Research Poster), with their Health Career Display in 7th place. 

McIntosh had three winners. Vedita Sawhney won in Medical Reading, Carly Nixon won in ATC Occupational Health and Safety, and Gabi Witucki won in ATC Leadership. Harini Mohan placed 10th in Dental Terminology. 

Starr’s Mill’s Derrilyn Maxey won in Job Seeking Skills, and Nash Glover placed 9th in Physical Therapy.

Fayette County High saw Neil Greene place 3rd in Clinical Specialty, and Arshi Noorani place 4th in Dental Terminology. Their Health Education team of Marti Musciano-Howard, Nishma Keshwani, Sia Gawlani, and Saira Majeed placed 5th.

Sandy Creek’s Madisen Rowden placed 9th in Research Poster. 

Top finishers advance to the 45th International Leadership Conference in Nashville in June. 

The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill, and leadership development of all health science technology education students, helping students to meet the needs of the health care community.
