Drawdown Georgia is a state-centered effort to identify market-ready, scalable climate solutions that are tailored to Georgia’s unique natural, economic, and social resources.

As the founders launched the organization during the first year of COVID, they realized that the best way to engage their audiences and build and sustain a community was through social media. So they built Facebook and Instagram pages, with content designed for each channel, as a way to bring people together, share news and lift up the people and organizations who are already scaling solutions.

They’ve used their social channels to offer a combination of videos, posts, and paid advertising to generate awareness. After launching in late 2020, the group is quickly growing its social media presence, with more than 2000 followers already.

Drawdown Georgia’s roadmap for emission reductions is based on a highly vetted, multi-university effort from researchers at Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Georgia, Emory University, and Georgia State University, identified 20 high-impact climate solutions that, if scaled, could cut state carbon dioxide emissions by about a third this decade.

Scaling the 20 high-impact solutions in Georgia can also support societal priorities “Beyond Carbon,” such as advancing equity, growing the economy, improving public health, and nourishing the larger environment.
