RCUT Intersection to Be Installed at Georgia 54/Floy Farr Parkway and Commerce Drive in Peachtree City

Tuesday, November 16th, 2021

Crews with Piedmont Paving of Newnan will install a new Reduced Conflict U-Turn (RCUT) intersection at Georgia 54/Floy Farr Parkway and Commerce Drive in Peachtree City this week. Weather permitting, construction will take place in overnight shifts Wednesday and Thursday night, Nov. 17-18, 2021 from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. each night.

RCUTs are used to reduce angle crashes at certain intersections by requiring side street traffic to make only right-hand turns followed by U-turns, thereby preventing angle collisions. Nationally, RCUT intersections reduce the incidence of severe crashes by 47% and minor crashes by 69%.

The RCUT intersection is expected to be in effect Friday morning, Nov. 19. Drivers are encouraged to be aware of the new traffic flow situation and alert to the new signage and newly-closed median at the site. All vehicles on Commerce Drive will be required to make right turns at Georgia 54 and if they need to U-turn they will do so at the Georgia 54/Georgia 74 interchange. Vehicles on Georgia 54 wishing to turn onto Commerce Drive will make a left turn at the RCUT.

Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions.
