To commemorate D-Day, join us for the World War II stories of Captain Buster Clements, G Company Commander, 502 Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne. His son, Mr. Bill Clements, will show photographs and never-before-seen information from his father’s scrapbook. This presentation focuses on his father’s life as an eyewitness to history. Mr. Clements will share stories about his father from an orphanage in Selma, Alabama to attending Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and to D-Day where he helped to secure the exits of Utah Beach. Captain Buster Clements’ World War II experiences include the Carentan Bayonet Charge (the linchpin of Utah and Omaha beaches), Operation Market Garden, the siege of Bastogne, and the Eagles Nest.
Our speaker, Bill Clements, is retired from IBM, and a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree and an MBA. As a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army, he served in Korea and Laos.
The link for the live event will also be posted on the Georgia Archives’ Facebook page on Friday morning, June 11. Microsoft Teams currently supports these browsers: Internet Explorer II, Microsoft Edge, RS2 or later, the latest version of Chrome, and the latest version of Firefox.
If you plan on using an iPhone or tablet, you may need to download the Teams app.
