Monday, September 14th, 2020
U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) today announced the state of Georgia will receive a $22 million BUILD grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to expand State Route 96, an east-west route that connects I-16 with I-75 south of Macon, Ga. The investment will also add a grass median between Interstate 16 and State Route 87/U.S. Route 23/U.S. Route 129.
“Whether it’s to go to work, pick up prescription medications, buy essentials like groceries, or transport products, Georgians need reliable and safe roadways now more than ever,” said Senator Loeffler. “This federal grant will improve the quality of life for families and boost economic development in surrounding communities. I thank President Trump and U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao for their commitment to bettering the roads and bridges of Georgia.”
“This Administration is making significant investments in infrastructure, and these BUILD grants will repair, rebuild, and revitalize transportation systems across America,” said U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao.
