Georgia Rotarians Stand for Peace and Unity
Friday, September 18th, 2020
Georgia Rotarians are gathering at Rotary Peace Poles across the state on September 21, 2020 to recognize the International Day of Peace. Rotarians are people of action and will come together to promote peace and social justice using the Peace Pole and the Four Way Test of things Rotarians think, say or do: 1. Is it the TRUTH; 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned; 3. Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS; and 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
Rotary Clubs of Gwinnett County, Braselton, Lawrenceville, Duluth, Sugarloaf, Mosaic, Peachtree Corners, eClub of the South and Gwinnett Sunrise will gather at the Rotary International Peace Pole at 10AM on Monday, September 21st on the Lawrenceville Lawn, located at the corner of Jackson Street and Luckie Street. These clubs are asking all Rotary clubs across Georgia and the world to participate to demonstrate the positive changes that occur when people unite in good faith to serve humanity.
A Peace Pole is an internationally recognized symbol of the hopes and dreams of the entire human family, standing vigil in silent prayer for peace on earth. Each Peace Pole bears the message May Peace Prevail on Earth in different languages on each of its four sides. The four languages on the Gwinnett County Peace Pole include English, Spanish, Korean, and Vietnamese. These four languages represent the prevalent languages spoken in Gwinnett County. There are tens of thousands of Peace Poles in nearly every country in the world dedicated as monuments to peace.
This event will be held both in person and virtually, and will feature speakers including Hank Stewart - Poet Laureate, Marlon Allen, and Dr. Jann Joseph, President of GGC. Online platforms include Facebook Live, YouTube, Instagram and Twitter.
