U.S. Senators David Perdue (R-GA) and Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) are urging the Department of Treasury and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to ensure all eligible individuals receive their Economic Impact Payment by processing the current backlog of inquiries and fixing the persistent problems preventing many Georgians from getting their relief.

In a recent letter, Perdue and Loeffler asked Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and IRS Commissioner Charles Retting to review the current tools in place, accelerate the resumption of operations, and improve the current processes to work through the backlog to better serve the American people.

“Although over 150 million Economic Impact Payments have been distributed, we are continuing to hear from eligible constituents who have not received their payments due to what appears to be glitches in the Internal Revenue Service’s processes,” wrote the Senators.

“We urge you to take steps to continue to improve your online tool to ensure that eligible individuals can promptly receive their payments or create additional outlets for them to receive information on the status of their payments,” they continued.

The Senators also requested a briefing on the progress the IRS is making to move through the backlog of all inquiries so Georgians can promptly receive answers on this and other matters.
