U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) announced that five Georgia organizations will receive grants totaling $2,169,638 as part of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program.

The funds will be used to help the organizations efforts to better equip homeless veterans with resources to reintegrate into the workforce, such as occupational skills, apprenticeship training, and job search and placement assistance.

Mary Hall Freedom House, Inc. will receive $400,000; Recovery Consultants of Atlanta, Inc. will receive $500,000; Veterans Empowerment Organization of Georgia, Inc. will receive $468,091; Traveler’s Aid of Metropolitan Atlanta, Inc. will receive $426,547; Atlanta Center for Self Sufficiency will receive $375,000.

“As a member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, I understand our duty to protect America’s most vulnerable veterans is more important than ever as we face the economic fallout from COVID-19,” said Loeffler, the daughter and granddaughter of veterans. “I am confident this money will be put to good use to integrate more Georgia veterans into the work place and, in turn, combat the devastating impact of veteran homelessness during this difficult time.” 

Loeffler is an original cosponsor of the Homeless Veterans Coronavirus Response Act of 2020, a bill that aims to improve the ability of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide critical services to homeless veterans during the COVID-19 pandemic.
