AT&T Assures GPSC That Phone Workers Not Part of Strike

Tuesday, August 27th, 2019

Georgia Public Service Commission Chairman Lauren “Bubba” McDonald has spoken to officials with AT&T regarding the strike in several Southern states. The strike involves workers who connect UVerse cable services, install fiber optic cable, etc. It does not involve the company’s employees who work on the wireless/cellular phone business.

AT&T officials have assured Commissioner McDonald that they are prepared for the strike and will continue to serve customers during the work stoppage.

The PSC regulates certain telecommunications but does not regulate cable services.

Should any customer experience AT&T cable service problems, they can call AT&T customer service at (800)288-2020.

“The Public Service Commission works to ensure Georgians receive the best service possible from companies we regulate, including telephone companies,” Commissioner McDonald said. “We will continue to monitor the situation and hope for a speedy outcome mutually beneficial to both parties. That would be the best result for customers here in Georgia.”
