For the past two years the University of West Georgia’s WOLF Internet Radio has adjusted from the norm and has hosted its College Radio Day event on campus earlier than the national date of the event. This minor calendar change might have seemed out of the ordinary for many, but for The WOLF, it turned out to be one of its biggest successes.

The College Radio Day Task Force selected The WOLF Internet Radio for one of the six Spirit of College Radio Day awards. The WOLF was selected from hundreds of colleges that participated in College Radio Day events last fall.

This is the second time that UWG WOLF Internet Radio has received this award and the third award from College Radio Day.

“I feel an immense amount of pride in my students and the tremendous teamwork that made our event not only successful but powerful, ” said Shawn Isaacs, The WOLF Internet Radio general manager.

This theme for College Radio Day was “When all else fails, College Radio speaks.” This theme was the main focus in The WOLF’s plan. The WOLF took the theme and brought it to a local level – “When all else fails, The WOLF Internet Radio speaks.”

Isaacs expressed that The WOLF is determined to speak for the students.

“Most importantly, The WOLF is the voice for students who can’t or won’t be heard,” Isaacs explained. “The WOLF speaks for those who need a louder voice.”

As the general manager, Isaacs feels that the best part of hosting College Radio Day is watching the students get excited about the event while also knowing there are hundreds of additional colleges and university radio stations joining together for one day every year to show why they are important.

“It is an amazing feeling,” Isaacs added.

The WOLF Internet Radio is the only college radio station in the state to be recognized in this competition.
