Thanks to the help of three Fayette County elementary school teachers, the state of Georgia now has computer science standards for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
Dr. April DeGennaro of Peeples Elementary, Caroline Mrizek of Peachtree City Elementary, and Tess Keller of Inman Elementary were part of the writing and revision team for the Georgia Department of Education’s Computer Science Standards Initiative. The new standards were announced by the state’s department of education on March 27.
The Computer Science initiative was headed by Bryan Cox, computer science specialist, of the teaching and learning team at the Georgia Department of Education.
