State Representative Lynn Smith (R-Newnan) was recently appointed by Kentucky Governor Matthew Bevin, chair of the Southern States Energy Board (SSEB), to serve as vice chair of the SSEB’s Executive Board.

“I am grateful to Governor Bevin for giving me this opportunity to serve the SSEB in this incredible leadership capacity,” said Rep. Smith. “I am honored to continue to represent Georgia and the southern states as this organization develops innovative and sustainable energy solutions, and I look forward to learning more from the board’s members over this next year.”

Rep. Smith will serve as vice chair for the remainder of the 2018-2019 term, and she will be placed on the slate of officers for election during the 59th Annual Meeting of the SSEB in Louisville, Kentucky in September. In 2018, Rep. Smith served as a member of the SSEB’s Executive Board, and she previously served as ex-officio member of the Executive Board in 2017.

The SSEB is a non-profit interstate compact organization created in 1960. The board’s mission is to enhance economic development and the quality of life in the South through innovations in energy and environmental policies, programs and technologies. SSEB is composed of sixteen southern states and two territories (Puerto Rico and U. S.  Virgin Islands).
