Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), Atlanta has received re-certification by the QOPI Certification Program, a subsidiary of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). The program provides a three-year certification for outpatient hematology-oncology practices that meet standards for quality and safety in cancer care. This designation arrives on the heels of a three-year accreditation renewal from The Joint Commission earlier this year.
In applying for re-certification, CTCA Atlanta had to meet the program’s requirements, which includes participating in a voluntary comprehensive site assessment against clearly specified standards that are consistent with national guidelines and being successful in meeting the standards and objectives of the QOPI Certification Program.
Core standards in areas of treatment include:
-
Creating a safe environment—staffing, competencies, and general policy
-
Treatment planning, patient consent, and education
-
Staff training and education
-
Monitoring and assessment of patient well-being
