One Fayette County high school student is a step closer to winning a $20,000 scholarship from Coca-Cola.
Whitewater High school senior Delaney Lyons is among the nearly 1,900 high school seniors across the nation named a semifinalist in the 2019 Coca-Cola Scholarship Program. The semifinalists were selected from over 95,000 applications, and will continue to the next stage of the scholarship process. Their applications will be reviewed by a reading committee in January and 250 will advance as regional finalists, with 150 becoming Coca-Cola Scholars.
The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities.
Lyons is the only student from Fayette County who has been named a semifinalist, and she is among 60 semifinalists from Georgia.
