To celebrate Nurses Week, the University of West Georgia’s Tanner Health System School of Nursing recently hosted a nursing alumni event for all nurses employed by Tanner Health System. Advancement representatives and nursing development council members also attended the event.

It was a time for all nursing alumni to come together and reflect on their time at UWG and reminisce about their experiences. It was also a time for potential students and their parents to explore limitless possibilities and learn from the inspiring nurses who came before them.

Dr. Jenny Schuessler, dean of THSSON, attended the event to show her support for past and future nurses.

“It was a great opportunity for us to say ‘thank you’ for everything Tanner nurses do to work with our students as they have various clinical rotations in the Tanner Health System,” Schuessler said. “We are also glad to have the opportunity to reach out to THSSON alumni who are practicing nurses at Tanner. Strengthening relationships with our alums is an ongoing priority at UWG.”

More than 120 people came to visit with current and retired nurses and nursing faculty. Organizers hope the event will become an annual tradition.
