Wednesday, May 30th, 2018
Coweta Charter Academy at Senoia recently recognized its top-performing teachers and staff members for 2017-18.
Patricia Hall received the Award of Excellence and Paige Bass received the New Teacher Award. Emily Carnes was named New American Hero, or Teacher of the Year.
“I’m proud of the work these three professionals put forth for our students each day,” Principal Gene Dunn said. “They are model educators and CCAS is fortunate to have them on staff.”
The Award of Excellence is presented to a paraprofessional or non-instructional team member who has an exceptional impact on the school community and the lives of students. Hall, a parapro, has been at CCAS for four of her 13 years in the field.
New Teacher of the Year is presented to an outstanding educator who is in his or her first full year of teaching. Bass is in her first year of teaching as well as her first year at CCAS.
The New American Hero Award, also known as the Teacher of the Year, is presented to an outstanding educator who is in his or her second full year of teaching or beyond. Carnes, a kindergarten teacher, has been at CCAS for four years.
Award recipients were nominated by CCAS teachers and staff, who had to provide supporting details for why the nominees deserved the awards for which they were nominated.
