High School Students Learn to THINC Fast
Tuesday, November 7th, 2017
THINC College & Career Academy students had to “THINC Fast” during a recent speed interviewing event. Volunteers from 30 local businesses conducted nearly 1,000 mock job interviews with THINC students. The workshop gave students, many of whom had never interviewed for a job, the opportunity to practice their skills and receive input from their interviewer.
Similar to a speed dating format, each student spent seven minutes with an interviewer before moving on to the next one. Interviewers were provided a list of 30 behavioral questions to use as a guide, with topics including teamwork, time management, motivation and values.
THINC Workforce Development Manager Carrie Brkich says: "THINC Fast is a high-energy event aimed at improving and polishing our students' interview skills. Our instructors work hard to prepare the students for this event, but the students are still nervous going into the interviews. It's a real pleasure to see the students come out of their interviews beaming with newfound confidence. We are thankful for our volunteers who coach our students and help them prepare to land their dream jobs one day."
