WellStar Health System, the largest health system in Georgia, expands its telemedicine capabilities with Specialists On Call, Inc., by adding TeleNeurology and TelePsychiatry services. SOC is the largest provider of telemedicine services and technology to acute care hospitals. WellStar Health System is known nationally for its innovative care models, focused on improving quality and access to healthcare.
“In an emergency, every second counts,” said Freda Lyon, vice president of emergency services for WellStar Health System. “With telemedicine, we are able to provide comprehensive neurological services for patients around the clock when they need it most. Through the skill of our providers and the latest technology, our patients can receive world-class healthcare close to home.”
Many of WellStar’s hospitals will utilize TeleNeurology to deliver highly-specialized care to patients experiencing a stroke. Using live two-way cameras and high resolution images, a patient is connected with a neurologist faster than traditionally possible. TelePsychiatry services will also be used at some WellStar facilities.
“Our growing partnership with WellStar demonstrates a collaborative effort to increase access to care through telemedicine,” said Hammad Shah, CEO of SOC. “It is a privilege to be a part of WellStar’s innovative approach to ensuring that patients receive quality care in local communities."
