Greg Wright joins Coweta-Fayette EMC as Senior Director of Community and Economic Development on September 18. In his role, Wright will utilize the experience gained from his work in economic development, on both the local and state level, to continue supporting the economic growth of our communities.
“Greg brings an abundance of experience and knowledge that will be instrumental in helping our entire membership,” Chris Stephens, President and CEO of Coweta-Fayette EMC said. “He’s well respected throughout the state and here locally. His expertise will be a great resource for the EMC. Building a strong partnership with our communities and working to create more opportunities for our members is a priority for us. We are dedicated to going the extra mile for our members and Greg shares that same philosophy.
He comes to Coweta-Fayette EMC with a wealth of experience in economic development after serving as president of the Coweta County Development Authority for the past eight years. He also served as project manager on the existing industry and regional recruitment team of the Georgia Department of Economic Development. He also served as president of the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce for seven years. Wright’s experience from serving as legislative director for former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and as state director for former United States Senator Saxby Chambliss will also be a tremendous asset to the members of Coweta-Fayette EMC.
Wright is the immediate past chairman of the Georgia Economic Developers Association and was recently elected to serve as one of Georgia’s representatives on the Southern Economic Development Council Board of Directors. He is a past chairman of the Georgia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives and has served as an instructor for the Georgia Academy for Economic Development, for Development Authority Board Member Training through the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia, and for several community leadership programs.
“I am very excited to be joining the team at Coweta-Fayette EMC and having the opportunity to help support Coweta-Fayette’s involvement in our region’s community and economic development efforts,” Wright said. “One of the reasons our area has been so successful has been our ability to work together to help accomplish our shared goals. I look forward to working with our community partners to help ensure the continued success of our region.”
