Representatives from Piedmont Newnan Hospital recently presented a check for $75,000 to the West Georgia Technical College Foundation to support student scholarships and strengthen the partnership between the hospital and college.
“This is a great collaboration we have with Piedmont Newnan because we know we have the answers to some of the challenges they’re facing when it comes to hiring a well-trained, qualified workforce,” West Georgia Technical College President Steve G. Daniel said. “We’re excited to continue this partnership, as we work together to ensure every resident of Coweta County is healthy and well taken care of.”
Piedmont Newnan Hospital CEO Michael Robertson presented the check – which represents a multi-year commitment to the college’s foundation – to Daniel in the Community Room at West Georgia Tech’s Coweta Campus.
One portion of the partnership is the planned rebranding of the Student Center at the Coweta Campus to become “The Piedmont Newnan Student Center.”
“We’re excited to hear students tell each other to meet them at ‘The Piedmont,’ and we’re positive this is the kind of exposure that Piedmont Newnan deserves from their commitment to our efforts,” Daniel said. “We have plans to move forward with the rebranding as soon as possible.”
Robertson said he’s excited to continue Piedmont’s partnership with West Georgia Tech.
“As a not-for-profit organization, our success enables us to give back to our community and support local partners like West Georgia Technical College, aligning our healthcare focus with their student’s needs to promote academic success and healthy living at an early age,” Robertson said.
Also present from Piedmont Newnan were Vicki Kaiser, Executive Director of Oncology and Community Affairs, and Buck Anderson, Executive Director of Patient Services.
Daniel said the college’s partnership with Piedmont Newnan is a “shining example” of how West Georgia Tech can team up with community partners to give students a chance to learn and be ready to enter the workforce from day one.
“Support from the communities we serve means everything to us at West Georgia Tech,” Daniel said. “We’re trying our best to make sure those commitments are met with support from us in the form of a qualified, well-trained workforce. Mutually beneficial partnerships like the one we enjoy with Piedmont Newnan Hospital are critical to our mission of providing a relevant and affordable education for our students.”
