Elizabeth Leddy has been named chief legal officer of Piedmont Healthcare, effective February 27. Leddy brings more than 25 years’ experience, the majority of which has been in healthcare law, to her new role.

“Elizabeth is a strong advocate for nonprofit healthcare,” Kevin Brown, CEO of Piedmont Healthcare, said. “I have no doubt she will be instrumental in helping us achieve our vision as we look to transform healthcare.”

Prior to joining Piedmont, Leddy worked for Providence Health & Services, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit health systems. In 2016, Providence Health & Services joined forces with St. Joseph Health to create a new organization that expanded to 50 hospitals, 106,000 employees and hundreds of clinics, programs and services spanning seven states.

“As counsel, Elizabeth was key to implementing the provision of legal services for the new, multi-state organization and we look forward to leveraging her expertise with mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other complex commercial litigation matters,” said Brown.

Earlier in her career, Leddy worked for Bennett, Bigelow and Leedom, a healthcare focused law firm in Seattle where she defended hospitals, physicians and executives in healthcare fraud investigations and proceedings. Leddy received her law degree from the University of Michigan School of Law.
