Dennis McEntire: Coweta’s Success Anchored by Schools
Tuesday, March 14th, 2017
New hospitals and associated health care services have made Coweta County a health care destination for the state and region. Continued growth in retail, technology, and industrial opportunities has kept unemployment numbers low and helped nurture a community lifestyle that is the envy of neighboring counties.
Business, industry and community leaders will tell you that Coweta’s continued success has been anchored by a great school system, which is always a top priority for businesses—and families—in choosing where to live, work, and play.
The local schools are one of the main reasons my family chose to make Newnan our permanent home years ago. Both my children graduated from Newnan High, and I believe they could not have gotten a better education in any public school system in the state of Georgia.
At Newnan Utilities, our motto is “Committed to Excellence.” The Coweta County School System shares that same commitment, and year after year, Coweta schools are among the state’s top performers in academics, athletics, and community service. Our organization is proud to support activities that make our community better. We are especially proud to support the Coweta County School System.
Our children’s academic success is due in part to continuing construction of new school facilities and constant improvement to existing facilities—funded in part by ESPLOST. As a parent and a businessperson, I know the difference ESPLOST funding has made in keeping our school system great. I believe continued ESPLOST funding is one of the best ways to keep our Coweta County schools among the state’s best. Great schools bring great opportunities for our community.
