2017 Georgia Small Business ROCK STAR: Atlanta Movie Tours

Wednesday, March 22nd, 2017

The film and TV industry is booming in Georgia, and the Atlanta area has been fortunate to play a key role in many, including Captain America: Civil WarAnt-Man, Stranger Things, The Vampire Diaries, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Ride Along, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2, AMC’s hit series The Walking Dead and many more!

Since 2012, Founder/CEO and Chief Movie Buff, Carrie Burns, and Atlanta Movie Tours have provided a whole new way to see the area for locals, visitors and movie buffs alike. Atlanta Movie Tours’ guides aren’t just employees, but experienced actors who have worked on the sets of popular movies and TV shows, giving fans fascinating behind-the-scenes stories they won’t find anywhere else.

Atlanta Movie Tours provides fans who travel across the country and even the world the opportunity to see where their favorite film or TV show was made; to be able to say “we were there” when they return home.

Carrie and the rest of the Atlanta Movie Tours’ management embrace the staff’s continued interest in the film industry. They allow the insiders/staff time off whenever possible to pursue their acting careers, while accommodating their shifts to be covered at Atlanta Movie Tours. What an amazing perk!

Atlanta Movie Tours has experienced significant growth in the last several years, with revenue rising nearly 300 percent. To better handle this growth, the company acquired its first passenger coach in 2016.

But even better than increased revenue, the company has grown from two to 24 employees. Atlanta Movie Tours has been named an Atlanta Magazine “Best of Atlanta” in 2014, Creative Loafing “Best of Atlanta” in 2015, and was awarded three TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence.

The true rock stars are the team. They are the ones that make it happen every day.” – Carrie Burns, Founder/CEO and Chief Movie Buff, Atlanta Movie Tours

“And the fan base will continue to drive the business,” she says. “We are involved with so many wonderful groups, like GDEcD and SBDC, and we are continuing to build on those relationships.”

Certainly, Atlanta Movie Tours was not an overnight success and they have had a number of partners along the way. The University of Georgia’s Small Business Development Center and Invest Atlanta were first consulted as they were starting up. They also continue to work closely with the Georgia Visitor Information Centers to promote tourism here in Georgia. Book a tour today and experience Atlanta Movie Tours for yourself!
