Bob Coggin is Chamber's New Governmental Affairs Liaison
Wednesday, June 15th, 2016
Bob Coggin of Newnan has been named Governmental Affairs Liaison for the Newnan-Coweta Chamber, where he will support efforts to positively project and promote the Newnan-Coweta Chamber, its membership, and the citizens they serve to all government entities.
In his new role, Coggin will act as liaison to the cities, county commission, and school board and will communicate with the Chamber concerning key initiatives and issues. He will then assist the Chamber in helping identify legislative priorities and sound policy formation for planning the legislative agenda.
"As a former Newnan City Councilman, I have observed firsthand the opportunities we have to make Newnan and all of Coweta County an even more dynamic and desirable place to live and work than it is today through a closer working relationship between the Chamber, the County and all of the municipalities," Coggin said. "I was motivated to take on the role of Governmental Affairs Liaison to help facilitate a closer working relationship between these parties."
Coggin, who in January was named the 2016 Coweta County Citizen of the Year, enjoyed a 42-year career with Delta Airlines, beginning as a Ramp Service Agent in Atlanta and eventually becoming the Executive Vice President of Marketing. He was one of four senior officers appointed to Delta's newly created Executive Council, which ran all phases of the Delta operation. He retired in 1998 and formed Alpine Consulting.
In recent years, he has served as a Newnan City Councilman, and his civic and community involvement includes serving at Newnan Presbyterian Church, the Newnan-Coweta Boys and Girls Club, the Newnan Campus of the University of West Georgia, the Coweta Samaritan Clinic and the Flint River Council Boy Scouts of America.
"We are delighted to have Bob serving in this new capacity with the Chamber," said Newnan-Coweta Chamber President and CEO Candace Boothby. "Bob is going to provide information that's needed to assist governmental entities in the decision-making process while also helping he Chamber provide support where needed. He's also going to advise our Chamber on how to make our members aware of key issues and how to support the legislative process."
