SunTrust to Donate a Dollar to Operation HOPE for Every New "onUp" Participant
Wednesday, February 10th, 2016
Financial dignity nonprofit Operation HOPE announced today a pledge from SunTrust Banks, Inc. to donate up to $250,000 to help Americans gain control of their finances through a new free online movement – onUp. For each person that joins through onUp.com, $1 will be donated to support HOPE's mission of economic empowerment.
"We commend SunTrust for raising awareness of financial stress in America, and doing something positive about it," Operation HOPE Founder, Chairman, and CEO John Hope Bryant said. "This issue affects people of all income levels, and everyone can take action to better manage their finances. We are pleased that the initial sign-ups — up to a quarter million — will benefit the programs of Operation HOPE, where we work to advance financial literacy every day."
At onUp.com, people who want to build financial confidence can join the movement, gain access to information and resources, and learn smart steps to overcoming financial stress and transforming their lives.
"Our company purpose is Lighting the Way to Financial Well-Being," SunTrust Chairman and CEO William H. Rogers, Jr. said. "That is why we launched the onUp movement to encourage Americans to build financial confidence. We are also pleased to support Operation HOPE's mission to empower communities through financial literacy."
Operation HOPE and SunTrust have a long-standing partnership to deliver tools that enhance financial well-being in the communities they serve. SunTrust is a sponsor of HOPE Inside locations, which provide a range of credit counseling, financial literacy, and small business development education services at no cost to participants.
