Technology Association of Georgia today announced that Robert Picciano, who is the Senior Vice President of IBM Analytics and also led IBM’s acquisition of The Weather Company, will be one of the keynote speakers at the annual Georgia Technology Summit on March 17, 2016.
 
Mr. Picciano began his IBM career in 1987 in Bethesda, Maryland, as a software developer and holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Northeastern University. During his time at IBM he has held numerous executive positions with the company. Prior to his current assignment, he was Senior Vice President, Information and Analytics Group, part of IBM’s Software organization. He also served as general manager, Information Management, responsible for the revenue, development and strategy of the IBM Information Management software business, which included database, data warehouse, master data management and associated software. Previously, he was general manager, Software Sales at IBM, overseeing sales strategy and management of the Software sales team; he also was the general manager of Lotus Software.
 
In addition, Mr. Picciano has served in executive roles across Information Management, including research, development and sales. He led the worldwide development and support of DB2 Linux, Windows and Unix platforms as vice president of Database Technology at the IBM Software Development Laboratory in Markham, Canada. In his role as vice president of Data Servers, he was responsible for the development of the database portfolio.
 
Mr. Picciano experience will be a welcome addition to the Georgia Technology summit, which is expected to draw a crowd of more than 1,300 C-level executives, entrepreneurs, technology professionals and academia to celebrate and recognize Georgia’s technology community. In addition to presentations from some of the top technology influencers in the nation, forty new companies will be named to TAG’s Top 40 Innovative Companies and the newest member of the Technology Hall of Fame of Georgia will be inducted.
