Georgia Natural Gas Donation to H.E.A.T. Warms Homes During Cold Surge

Georgia Natural Gas, the state's leading natural gas provider, recently donated $75,000 to the Heating Energy Assistance Team to help low-income Georgians meet the costs of home heating during the crucial winter months. The donation comes at a time when temperatures have been recorded as below freezing throughout the state of Georgia and cold weather grips much of the nation.
"Georgia Natural Gas' donation and support to H.E.A.T., comes at a critical time when deserving families and households are in need of crucial heating energy assistance," says Janet Joseph, executive director of H.E.A.T. "Extreme cold weather can severely impact the household budgets of Georgia's struggling seniors and families. Often, households on limited fixed-incomes are forced to make excruciating budget decisions, with few resources to rely on." Joseph estimates that more than 200 needy families will receive heating energy assistance this winter because of the $75,000 GNG donation.
"H.E.A.T. is an important state-wide partner and resource in the lives of many Georgians," says Georgia Natural Gas president and CEO, Mike Braswell. "GNG remains committed to supporting H.E.A.T.'s efforts to provide energy assistance during the cold winter months," he says.
