NBA: Atlanta Hawks Most Affordable NBA Team to Attend Games
Wednesday, November 11th, 2015
In the NBA, fans of the Atlanta Hawks have to spend the least amount to attend a game this basketball season on their team's home court. That's the main takeaway of a recent survey conducted by TravelMag.com.
To determine the rankings, the survey undertook an analysis that involved the total combined cost of admission and nearby lodging for each team in the NBA. The average ticket prices of the past season, as established by the statistics portal statista.com, were set as the admission price. The typical rate for a 3-star hotel close to the respective arenas was then added to that figure.
To attend a Hawks game this basketball season, a couple can anticipate spending $162 in total according to the survey. That sum is comprised of tickets that will cost an average of $35 apiece as well as the $92 average rate determined by the survey for a double room around Philips Arena, home of the Atlanta Hawks.
On the flipside, the New York Knicks are the most expensive NBA team to attend a home game. While tickets will cost an average of $123 a piece, by far the highest price tag of all 30 NBA teams, a couple will have to spend $184, on average, for a double room around the team's home court of Madison Square Garden.
The following table shows the five most and five least expensive NBA teams for which to attend a home game. The rates indicated are composed of the average price for two tickets as well as the average cost for a double room (1 night, minimum 3-star hotel).
1. New York Knicks $430
