NBSC to Provide Financial Assistance to Three Organizations for Flood Recovery

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Tuesday, October 27th, 2015

NBSC, a division of Synovus Bank, announced that it will make a cash donation to the Low Country South Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross, United Way of the Midlands, and the Central Carolina Community Foundation in support of their ongoing response to the South Carolina floods. NBSC’s $100,000 donation will be divided between the three organizations.

The donation was announced at the University of South Carolina-Vanderbilt game on October 17 — the Gamecocks’ first post-flood appearance at Williams-Brice Stadium. The USC Athletic department used NBSC’s pledge as a challenge to encourage fans in attendance to give to the United Way of the Midlands and American Red Cross.

“While the water from these historic floods has receded, the impact of the storm will be with us for some time,” said Chuck Garnett, president and CEO of NBSC. “Even the most challenging situations bring out the best in South Carolinians, and all of us at NBSC are inspired by the courage, resiliency, and community spirit we’ve witnessed across our state. We are proud to support the important work of the Red Cross, United Way, and CCCF — and we are gratified and impressed by the response of the Gamecock Nation to the challenge they heard last weekend.”

All NBSC branches continue to accept donations for recovery funds administered by the Columbia Chamber of Commerce and other civic organizations around the state.
