WGTC Fall Enrollment Up 5 Percent, MOWR Up 40 Percent

West Georgia Technical College’s fall semester enrollment is up over 5 percent from last year to 6,707 students, the college announced on Tuesday. The number of high school students taking WGTC classes through the state’s Move On When Ready program is up 40 percent to 1,081 students.

Fayette Visioning Selects Branding Firm

Fayette Visioning announced that it has selected professional marketing firm Development Counsellors International to design, develop and assist with implementation of Fayette’s county-wide branding campaign. A 16-member branding task-force made up of a variety of Fayette business and community stakeholders reviewed branding proposals from ten marketing firms and then met with three finalists for in-person presentations.

Variety Wholesalers, Inc. to Create 320 Jobs in Coweta County

Nathan Deal announced Monday that Variety Wholesalers, Inc., a retail store chain, will establish its second major distribution center in Coweta County, creating 320 jobs and investing approximately $10.5 million in the Newnan area. The distribution center will support Variety Wholesalers stores as the company expands its presence in the southeastern, midwestern and south central United States.

Since the first Internet boom came to a close in 2001, the length of time it takes the average venture capital company to exit has more than doubled, increasing from 3.3 years to 6.8 years, data published by the National Venture Capital Association, the industry’s trade association, demonstrates.

Today’s “Girls Who Code”— Tomorrow’s Women Who Could Make a Difference

This summer marked the first time “Girls Who Code” became available for young women in the Atlanta metro area. Eighty students participated in the free, seven-week immersion course held locally at AT&T, Accenture, and General Electric. At the recent graduation ceremony, the students created tabletop displays that reflected the training and their applied achievements completed during the final week of the session.
