goBeyondProfit, a first-of-its-kind business leader initiative that inspires business generosity, today announced Dentons Atlanta as the recipient of a 2025 goBeyondProfit Champion Award. This recognition celebrates the firm's enduring commitment to civic engagement.

Dentons' community involvement is a cornerstone of its identity -- a tradition embedded in its culture for decades. Instilled by leaders of its founding firms such as Long, Aldridge & Norman, Dentons has long played an instrumental role in Atlanta’s community and civic life – helping with foundational efforts from the creation of MARTA to securing the 1996 Olympic Games, to its pivotal role in the Westside Futures Fund. 

 “What first attracted me to this firm was the leadership’s profound commitment to involvement in civic life. This intentional investment in addressing the broader needs of the community has remained a vital part of the Dentons culture.” says Eric Tanenblatt, Global Chair, Public Policy and Regulation.  

Tanenblatt accepted the goBeyondProfit Champion award on behalf of the firm and discussed the importance of business generosity, particularly the firms ongoing civic engagement.

Dentons' serves as pro bono counsel for global organizations headquartered in Atlanta, such as Points of Light and CARE, as well as providing of financial, pro bono, and volunteer support to local organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and the Georgia Justice Project. In addition, firm members actively serve in business organizations such as Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, Central Atlanta Progress, and The Buckhead Coalition. 

A prime example is their involvement with Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation (AVLF), where Dentons lawyers volunteer in schools, offering pro bono counsel to address issues such as housing insecurity, helping families prevent eviction and allowing children to remain in school.

"To me civic engagement is the paying of your civic rent,” says Sharon Gay, Senior Counsel at Dentons, “it’s the recognition that businesses are not successful on their own and the importance of finding meaningful ways to give back to the community that support and nurture us.”
