Each spring, the University of West Georgia dedicates a day to celebrate the hard work and achievements of its top students. Scholars’ Day, sponsored by the UWG Honors College and the Office of Undergraduate Research, consists of two main events: an undergraduate research conference in the afternoon and the annual Honors Convocation in the evening.

Scholars’ Day looked a bit different this year, as the physical event was canceled due to COVID-19. The Honors College made adjustments so that students’ research would still be shared and award recipients could still be honored.

“The Office of Undergraduate research is so proud of the students who participated and so grateful for their faculty members who were instrumental in providing these opportunities for students,” said Dean of the Honors College Dr. Janet Donohoe. “Through undergraduate research, students come to understand the applicability of all that they are learning at West Georgia.”

Students from all majors were encouraged to submit presentations and research. Abstracts of participants’ research presentations can be found at this link.

For over 50 years, UWG has recognized the achievements of its superior students at the annual Honors Convocation. Students are selected for awards by the faculty in their disciplines. They must possess at least a 3.2 overall GPA and fulfill all additional departmental requirements to be chosen. These students are UWG’s best and brightest being honored by their faculty.
