Georgia DOT Awards Contracts for Three Road Resurfacing Projects in West Central Region

The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced it awarded contracts for three road resurfacing projects in the West Central Georgia region on Feb. 1, 2019.

The projects are:

Coweta County: the project involves the construction of a bridge on Spanish Creek Road (CR 137) over Long Branch Creek. The contract was awarded to Georgia Bridge and Concrete, LLC for $5.8 million. It is anticipated that the project will be complete by the end of Spring, 2020.

Spalding County: the project involves making intersection improvements for safety purposes on Georgia 155 at North Hill Street in Griffin. The contract was awarded to JHC Corporation for $734,000. It is anticipated that the project will be complete in Spring, 2020.

The projects were two of 11 total construction projects contracted statewide on Feb. 1. The contracted amount statewide totaled $31,262,935. Bridge contracts, including the one for Coweta County, comprised 30 percent of the total awarded funds. Thirteen percent of the contracted projects involved safety enhancements, including the one for Spalding County.

The Feb. 1 awards bring the total construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2019 to $386 million statewide. The Fiscal Year 2019 began July 1, 2018.
