CCRPI Scores Strong, Fayette Posts Top High School Score in Metro Atlanta

The Fayette County Public School System posted strong scores on the redesigned 2018 College and Career Ready Performance Index.

The school system’s overall score is 87.3, that is 10.7 points above the state’s score of 76.6.

Scores for each school level are in the mid 80s to low 90s and track between seven to 16 points above those of the state. Fayette’s CCRPI scores: 84.8, elementary; 85.5, middle; and 91.4, high. In comparison, state scores are 77.8, elementary; 76.2, middle; and 75.3, high.

Fayette had the top CCRPI high school score in metro Atlanta and the third highest in the state. For elementary and middle school levels, the school system came in second in metro Atlanta and finished 11th and 13th, respectively, in the state.

As part of Georgia’s state plan for the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) – the replacement for No Child Left Behind – the state was able to make improvements to the CCRPI calculation. The 2018 CCRPI is the first to use the new calculation – meaning comparisons between the 2018 CCRPI and any other year are not possible or valid.

The CCRPI has been streamlined and simplified. The number of indicators has been cut roughly in half, and the remaining indicators are organized within five overall components: Content Mastery, Progress, Closing Gaps, Readiness, and (for high schools only) Graduation Rate. The CCRPI score is based on a 100-point scale.

Two schools scored a 100 and a 100+ on three of the five components measured. Kedron Elementary earned a 100+ in Content Mastery and a 100+ in Closing Gaps. McIntosh High also earned a 100+ in Content Mastery and a 100 in Progress. Content Mastery includes achievement scores in English, language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies based on student performance on state assessments. Progress utilizes Student Growth Percentiles to measure progress in both English language arts and mathematics, showing the amount of growth a student has demonstrated relative to academically-similar students. Closing Gaps measures the extent to which all student subgroups are meeting annual achievement improvement targets.
