Over $35,000 Raised for The Children’s Village at Christian City

Staff Report From Newnan CEO

Wednesday, September 14th, 2016

165 golfers, 37 sponsors and Consumer Investigator, Dale Cardwell came together at Eagle’s Landing Country Club in Stockbridge to enjoy a day of golf while helping children in need. This year’s “Golf Fore Kids” Classic raised more than $35,000 to support the abandoned, abused, and neglected children who now live safely at The Children’s Village at Christian City. Established in 1965, the 500-acre campus is located nine miles south of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

“We had more golfers and more sponsors than ever before,” said Christian City President and CEO, Len Romano. “Faithful community support sustains The Children’s Village at Christian City. Because of the financial support we receive from events like Golf Fore Kids, our children get a special kind of mulligan and can experience a childhood that is more like what God intended for them. We’re grateful to Dale Cardwell and the sponsors and golfers who came out to show that they care about children in need in metro Atlanta. Together, they are making a difference in the lives of children and helping to break the cycle of generational poverty.” Romano said.

First place went to RJH, Inc., whose foursome included: Roy Hill, Will Davidson, Jay Baker and Mark Bucholtz. Harvey Melear, Don Bonner, Ray Hannah and John Martin took second place, and the team from Outback Deck, Inc. came in third. First Christian Church of Stockbridge won the “Church Challenge” with John Clabby, George Whitley and Leonard Craig taking home the trophy for 2016.
