Batson-Cook Construction has been named a 2015 Sam Olens Business Community Service Award winner for its outstanding contribution to nonprofit organizations by the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce.

Batson-Cook donated more than 5,100 community service hours to a host of nonprofit organizations during 2015, in addition to making significant monetary and in-kind donations throughout the year.  The firm also brought a unique twist to its community service efforts during2015 by celebrating its 100th anniversary with a “Day of Service” in the cities where its offices are located.

“Batson-Cook’s commitment to giving back was one of the main reasons I joined the company,” said President and CEO Randy Hall, who began working at Batson-Cook in 1995.  Both corporate and individual employee giving of time and resources are encouraged, and Hall spearheaded the drive to make community involvement one of the firm’s core values.

Accepting the award on behalf of Batson-Cook were Hall and Dela Rakestraw, a human resources generalist with the company.  Presenting the award at Cobb Chamber’s December First Monday Breakfast Event was Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens, for whom the annual award was named in 2011 in honor of his dedication to community and philanthropic service.

Winners of the Sam Olens Award are selected from nominees presented to the chamber by Cobb County’s nonprofit community.  Batson-Cook was nominated by Loving Arms Cancer Outreach.
