Georgia Transportation Alliance on The Georgia Commission Freight and Logistics Report

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Friday, January 31st, 2020

“The release of the final report from the Georgia Commission on Freight and Logistics highlights the importance of the freight and logistics industry in Georgia and the need for the right transportation infrastructure to support this booming industry.  We commend Co-Chairmen Representative Kevin Tanner and Senator Brandon Beach along with the other members of the Commission for the release of a report that provides an in-depth look into the needs of the freight and logistics industry in our state.

The Georgia Transportation Alliance believes infrastructure to support freight and logistics should be a priority given Georgia has the fastest growing port in the country, and over 80% of the cargo coming in will travel by truck on Georgia’s highway system. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the Georgia Commission on Freight and Logistics in 2020 as we raise awareness through our new educational campaign, “Georgia Can’t Wait for Freight,” which will highlight the opportunities and challenges for Georgia’s transportation network expecting dramatic freight growth in our state’s future.”
