SchoolDigger.com Ranks Fayette County Public Schools in Top 10%

SchoolDigger.com has awarded a five-star rating to Fayette County Public Schools, placing it in the top 10 percent of school systems in Georgia, according to the latest rankings for 2019. Fayette has been listed in the top 10 percent on SchoolDigger.com since the list was started 13 years ago. 

The school system is ranked eighth overall in Georgia and second in the metro Atlanta area.

Six of the seven school systems ahead in the rankings are less than twice the size of Fayette, with one to 11 schools compared to Fayette’s 24 schools.

Half of Fayette’s schools received a five-star ranking for 2019: Rising Starr Middle, J.C. Booth Middle, Peachtree City Elementary, Braelinn Elementary, Kedron Elementary, Peeples Elementary, Huddleston Elementary, Sara Harp Minter Elementary, Oak Grove Elementary, McIntosh High, Starr’s Mill High, and Whitewater High. A total of eight elementary and middle schools received four stars, and four elementary and high schools received three stars.

SchoolDigger.com calculates school rankings based on test scores supplied by each state’s department of education. School rankings are calculated by normalizing and averaging each school’s test scores across all tests and grades, and then that average score is sorted starting with the highest. System rankings are calculated by determining a rank score by averaging the rank percentile for each of the schools in the system, and then the list of school systems is sorted by rank score starting with the highest.
