Governor Kemp Announces 9 State Board Appointments

Governor Brian P. Kemp conducted swearing-in ceremonies for eight (8) appointments to board and related entities. Yesterday, Kemp conducted the swearing-in ceremony for Mitchell McEwen to the State Construction Industry Licensing Board.

Board of Public Health

The Board of Public Health guides and oversees the Department of Public Health, which is the state's lead agency in preventing disease, injury and disability; promoting health and well-being; and preparing for and responding to disasters from a health perspective.

Dr. T.E. Valliere-White has been a licensed physician in Georgia since 2014 and holds licenses in New Jersey and New York. Valliere-White is a general surgeon with Piedmont Healthcare in Conyers. She obtained her medical degree from Rutgers - New Jersey Medical School. She was named as a New Jersey “Top Doc” in 2013. Her spouse is Gabrielle Valliere-White, and they live in McDonough.

Major General Thomas Carden, Jr. is Adjutant General of the Georgia Department of Defense.

Board of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities

The Georgia Board of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities sets the general policy to be followed by the Department of Behavioral Health and Development Disabilities (DBHDD), which offers treatment and support services to help people with behavioral health challenges achieve recovery by focusing on their strengths. Through uniquely tailored supports and services, DBHDD helps people with intellectual and developmental disabilities attain independence and lead meaningful and fulfilling lives.

Lasa Joiner is a staunch advocate for broader access to mental health treatments and brings expertise from her tenure as Executive Director of the Georgia Psychiatric Physicians Association. Joiner has been professionally involved in a wide range of health policy issues, and she currently serves on several boards and foundations which support improvements in the delivery of healthcare to all Georgians. Currently, Joiner is President of the Georgia Foundation for Public Health. She resides in Atlanta.

Board of Nursing

The Georgia Board of Nursing licenses and regulates the profession of nursing.

Irene Cordell is a registered nurse (RN), charge nurse, and member of the Rapid Response Team and Quality Management Task Force with the Carl Vinson Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Dublin, Georgia. She has been a licensed RN since 2014. Cordell lives in Dublin, and she has three children, Katie, Bryan and Jack Dixon.

Jennifer Pipkin is a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) with Tanner Health Systems in Carrollton. Pipkin and her husband, Judge John Andrew Pipkin, III, live in McDonough.

State Construction Industry Licensing Board

The State Construction Industry Licensing Board licenses and regulates contractors through the Division of Conditioned Air Contractors, Division of Electrical Contractors, Division of Low Voltage Contractors, Division of Master and Journeyman Plumbers, and Division of Utility Contractors.

Mitchell McEwen is President of Regional Waste, Inc. in Jackson, Georgia. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Management from Georgia College & State University. He has two daughters, Jessica and Emily.

Stone Mountain Memorial Association

The Stone Mountain Memorial Association is tasked with managing and maintaining state-owned Stone Mountain Park.

Caroline Meadows is being reappointed to the Stone Mountain Memorial Association.

Reverend Abraham Moseley is a native of Hancock County, Sparta, Georgia. Moseley attended Fort Valley State College, and he is currently pastoring Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Athens. He is a well-known community advocate in Clarke County, and he is married to Gladys Mosley. They have four children and eight grandchildren, and they reside in Athens.

Roy Roberts is being reappointed to the Stone Mountain Memorial Association.
