State Representative Lynn Smith (R-Newnan) recently received the Golden Eagle Award from the Flint River Council of the Boy Scouts of America at the 2019 Coweta Golden Eagle Dinner on Wednesday, March 19. Coweta County School Superintendent Dr. Steve Barker also received the Golden Eagle Award.

“It was an honor to be recognized along with a great educator and leader, Dr. Barker,” said Rep. Smith. “The Flint River Council is training the future leaders of Coweta County, and I am constantly inspired by these scouts’ hard work and dedication to serving our communities.”

Each year, Flint River Council of the Boy Scouts of America hosts the Coweta Golden Eagle Dinner to raise money for the organization. The annual event presents the local scouting report and recognizes leadership of the scout teams, as well as Coweta area leaders. The Flint River Council’s Golden Eagle Award is the highest honor awarded to the noteworthy and extraordinary leadership of citizens in the Coweta area and is presented to those in and out of scouting who are champions of community service and whose efforts embody the Boy Scout law.
