Crews to Complete Split, Shift Traffic on I-85 at Poplar Road Tuesday

Staff Report From Newnan CEO

Friday, December 7th, 2018

Crews installing a new interchange and overpass on I-85 at Poplar Road east of Newnan began work splitting the I-85 lanes, but need to postpone the final lane shift until Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018.

Today's cold temperatures prevented crews from moving the opposing traffic lanes onto their respective sides of the roadway's new concrete median. With the temperatures expected to remain low with possible storms this weekend, the workers will return on Tuesday to finish the traffic shift.

Again, on Tuesday flaggers will be in place to guide traffic during the process. Motorists are urged to slow their speeds, pay attention to the flaggers giving directions and be patient.

WHERE: Coweta County, I-85 at the Poplar Road interchange

WHEN: UPDATE - WORK TO CONTINUE ON Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018 AND LAST MOST OF THE DAY
