Amerigroup Community Care of Georgia announced that it is adding additional benefits to help support its families at no cost. The new benefits include free items such as diapers, school clothing and car seats and are part of Amerigroup’s continued efforts to simplify healthcare and increase access to care, as well as address daily challenges consumers may face to improve overall health outcomes. These new benefits become available July 1, and have been chosen to address diverse needs that impact consumers of all ages.

“Amerigroup is deeply committed to helping Georgia families and individuals to improve their health and wellbeing, so we continually invest in new programs and partnerships that not only ensure access to healthcare, but also to life essentials that support healthy living,” said Mel Lindsey, Amerigroup Georgia’s health plan president.

Amerigroup families with babies and toddlers will be eligible to receive free diapers after the baby’s first well infant check-up is completed, and free car seats will be provided to expectant moms enrolled in OB case management. Also, free potty training seats will be provided once a child’s two-year well child check-up is completed. New benefits aimed at helping families with school-aged youth break down barriers that can hinder academic success include free back-to-school clothing and $25 Old Navy or Footlocker gift cards for 9th to 12th graders who earn all A’s on their report card. Additionally, consumers who are over the age of 18 and attending college will be able to access extra support through free oil changes completed by Amerigroup’s participating auto care partners across the state of Georgia.

These new value added benefits are being offered in addition to the broad portfolio of benefits Amerigroup Georgia currently offers its consumers, such as free dental cleanings, eye exams, weight management, pest control and bedding for asthma programs and more. Access to benefits is based on eligibility.
